Minute Monday: The beauty of a child’s smile

This weekend went by in a whirlwind of early wake-up calls, matatu rides, hours playing with children, birthday celebrations and a Sunday afternoon of baking bread (stay tuned for a post on that later).

One part stuck with me, and since it’s Minute Monday, I’ll try to encapsulate it into a brief glimpse.

Finding beauty in the slums

I had no idea what to expect when I tagged along to an event in one of the slums, put on by one of SIM’s ministries, Children at Risk. It was an exhausting day, but I found something along the way.

I found beauty in the face of a newborn – and joy in the face of a girl named Esther.
